RESEARCH GRANTS
Objective
Research is the crossroads where the knowledge of today encounters the potential to shape future practices. Florence University of the Arts sustains the development of new ideas that positively impact the global landscape. As an academic institution, FUA believes in the importance of research conducted in parallel with classroom instruction for the reciprocal learning advantage of the campus and greater communities.
Research projects seek to bring new perspectives to FUA academics and to the overall growth of knowledge in various disciplines.
Research Fields
Three main areas of research guide the direction of proposals and accepted projects in collaboration with researchers:
- The addicted brain: abuse and dependence – Common trends and mechanisms of drug and behavioral addictions.
- On health and wellness: living a healthy and fulfilling life, social interconnections and implications.
Research Proposals
Both the FUA and external academic communities may submit proposals for research. Submissions must follow specific criteria and formatting that may be requested from the Research Coordinator. Research outcomes are published by FUA.
The 2018 research grant is currently open (June 30, 2018 deadline).

FACULTY DEVELOPMENT
The call for proposals is currently closed for FUA's Faculty Development program. Future calls for FDP proposals will be posted here.
Objective
The Faculty Development program seeks to locate suitable projects aimed at the development of an integration-based teaching and learning environment for the progress of innovative pedagogic methodologies. The integrated experiences take place in the form of seminar instruction conducted by selected candidates during the FUA's twice-yearly seminar week.
Program Features
- Faculty abroad teach 1-day FUA seminars during the Fall or Spring Intsession III Week.
- Interaction and development opportunities as an exchange between FUA departments and visiting faculties.
