For its 2019 “Award for Excellence in Education Abroad Curriculum Design,” the Forum on Education Abroad identified FUA-AUF “as representative of best practices” for the Student Learning and Development and Academic Framework standards.
The recognition was assigned specifically to Florentine Art Walks, a course that applies FUA-AUF's Walks Without a Classroom WWAC methodology. The Forum recognized the course content's themed walks as "a comprehensive approach to the city as an open-air cultural, historical, and artistic research site from its Roman foundation to its contemporary Zeitgeist."
According to the Forum, the former acknowledges “the organization’s mission, goals, and operations prioritize student learning and development”; whereas the latter as “the organization delivers academic content appropriate to its stated mission and goals, ensures adequate academic supervision and evaluation, and maintains clear and transparent academic policies.”
The best practices recognition is an honor for the institution, whose academic standards drive the main priority for providing students with the best possible learning experiences and outcomes.
