Elisabetta Eschini sQuola Scholarship for Italian Studies

Offered in the Spring Semester

Mission:

The late Italian language instructor Elisabetta Eschini dedicated her life to teaching the language to foreign students in the city of Florence. A positive force in the lives of needy children and young students, Elisabetta continually sought the better, brighter side of individuals whether through teaching or in her social interaction. Our goal is to for Eschini scholarship-holders to gain access to personal and academic enrichment through the discovery of a new language.

Application Criteria:

At least 3 semesters of language studies or equivalent completed. An online interview in Italian will be conducted.

Motivation Essay for Application:

Applicants should write a maximum of 1000 words on the following question as an essay to be submitted along with the application form:

What, in your opinion, is the difference between learning and living a language How will the resulting answer shape your approach to the Italian language during your studies in Florence?

Portfolio Requirements:

In addition to the Motivation Essay, scholarship applicants should include a 500 word essay in Italian on why it's important to focus on the contemporary aspects and evolutions of the Italian language.

Scholar Involvement:

Scholarship winners are required to dedicate at least 10 hours per week throughout the semester, activities will be monitored by a coordinator.
