The 2015 FUA / SUNY Stony Brook winter conference program with speaker and panel lineups is available.
FUA is pleased to announce the conference lineup for the December 2015 “De Re Mediterranea” conference cohosted by SUNY Stony Brook University. The conference will be held on December 4-5 at the FUA main campus in Palazzo Bombicci Guicciardini Strozzi, Corso Tintori 21.
Inauguration activities will take place at the Gabinetto Viessuex, Palazzo Strozzi, 9:15am (registration 8:30-9:15am) on December 4. Featured speakers at the inauguration include:
- Eugenio Giani, President of the Florence City Council
- Mario Mignone, SUNY Stony Brook University
- Keynote speaker Lisa Sasson, New York University
Conference panels will be held as concurrent sessions throughout December 4 and 5 and feature distinguished panel speakers from international locations such as the US, Canada, Greece, Italy, Egypt, Montenegro and Australia. Topics include studies of the Mediterranean through diverse discipline focuses:
- An analysis of the Mediterranean in terms of human geography and history
- Cultural aspects pertaining to the Mediterranean from a cross-cultural perspective
- The concept of identity within the Mediterranean framework
- Mediterranean culinary traditions as a bridge between cultures and a synonym of middle ground
FUA students will present a special panel as well as an art exhibit.
